Spudz Anyone?

Are you still considered outstanding in your field when your photographer makes you lay on the ground?

Meet the Woudwijk family. They are potato farmers who own Spudwyk Farms right here in Outlook. You can thank them for those yummy baby potatoes that you find in stores across the prairies. We had to plan the session just right so that we hit the potato fields while they were in full bloom.

In this particular field, the potatoes are a purple variety that yield pretty purple blooms and actual purple potatoes. I'll have to go out and check out what a purple potato actually looks like.

What a great night for a shoot, but HOLY batman were the mosquitoes ever hungry... and not for potatoes!

Brendon & Kayla

Kayla and Brendon are high school sweethearts and they literally lived across the street from each other. How romantic is that? Congratulations on your big day. I hope these images retell the story of your day that way you remember it. Best of luck!

As soon as I took this series of images, I knew right away that they were going to be some of the favorite shots of the day, maybe even the season! The color combos were awesome with bold black and splashes of red elegance. Definitely some of my favorite colors. As you can see her veil was so long and amazing. Too bad we didn't have any typical Saskatchewan wind to play with that day.

What a little doll! This little sweet thing was only 8 days old when I met her in the studio.


They say a picture is worth a thousand words. It's what's in the picture that tells the story. Hands tell so much. I love the contrast between Dad's farmer hands and the delicacy of the newborn skin. And you can tell mom's hands already have that delicate touch that will fix a broken heart and wipe away tears.

Babies are usually still squishy and sleepy at this age, just the way we want them for the newborn photos. However, this little one was wide-eyed and taking in the world already. It took a bit to trick her to sleep, but it was so worth it. Sweet dreams.

Presenting Johnny Fast and the New Mrs. Fast!

Amber and Johnny Fast (yup, cool name, huh?) are an amazing couple who are so full of life, love their friends and family, count their blessings, and just ooze with style. There's just something about them. You can't help but like them. They are edgy and stylish; they are fun and down to earth. Did I mention stunning? It's not hard to make this couple look good. It was hard though to narrow down some of my favorites to include in this blog.

I have to admit that I was super stressed before this wedding. Not because the bride was a bridezilla (complete opposite actually!), but because she happens to be a cousin of mine and doing family weddings can be stressful only because you want to make sure that you nail it. Thanks for being so easy going and up for anything! It was a super fun day.

A big shout out goes to Lauren Winter for offering up one of her secret locations that complimented all the colors perfectly. Lauren was in the bridal party and is a very inspiring photographer out of Saskatoon. Check out her amazing work here.


The decor was splendid... a mix of class and rock n roll. Johnny is a musician with Under the Stairs which lent nicely to some of the rock n roll party favors and ideas. No standard guest book here; guests signed the old school records. No boring party favors; guested were treated with personalized guitar picks with images of the couple. No lack of pizazz; peacock feathers and damask popped up everywhere. And did I mention their love for kids? There were lots of kids in attendance and they were entertained by a balloon making artist during dinner and awesome grab bags full of treasures. (I get a bad mom award here.... I made my kids sit and eat their dinner before going to get balloons. Little did I know that the balloon man had to make another appearance at a different wedding and we showed up just as he was leaving. Thanks to the mom (didn't get your name!) who saved the day and convinced her little girl to share one of her balloon creations).

During the first dance, Mr. Johnny Fast added a personalized touch and maybe taught Avenged Sevenfold a thing or two....


What a great wedding! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of all the behind the scenes action. I loved being a part of it.

{LIttle Miss P}

Isn't she a beauty?!?! Her mom and dad are good friends of ours. I shot their wedding a few years back. It was my first wedding season, and they actually trusted me to capture their day. It all turned out well and their wedding photos are some of my favorites to date.


When we showed some of the images to little Miss P's father, he promptly replied, "Who's that?". Oops, guess he didn't recognize his little girl dressed up as a Vegas diva.

Mr. & Mrs. Johnson

What more do you need? The perfect day, the perfect dress, oh and an amazing bride and groom. It's always a pleasure working with a bride who is a teacher. They are meticulously organized, have a love for lists, and often beat me to the punch when finalizing details for the day. To make an even better combination, the mother of the bride does some interior design work and had some great resources. It is evident that whoever made the final decisions on the style of the day had a great eye. From the shoes to the hall decorations, it was a first class event with a "WOW appeal".


The wedding was held in an amazingly beautiful church in Holdfast, Saskatchewan. This church was not only beautiful, but it is a very big part of the bride's family. Her ancestors helped to build the church and it is very monumental in that her great grandparent, grandparents and parents all were married there. This church reminds me a lot of the Catholic Church in Ponteix!



It was an honor to work with Jess Zoerb, a friend of mine and also the bride and groom, who helped shoot the ceremony as a wedding gift for the couple.
