It's all about capturing moments. The best compliment that I can get about my work is when someone tells me that it brought tears to their eyes. That's the moment that I know that my job is done. I like to capture those special moments... the moments that you sometimes miss out on when you pose too much and forget about all the little details that make up the story. - Outlook, Saskatchewan Photographer -

Best InTENTions for Haiti Fundraiser - This weekend!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – This May you can help ensure that earthquake survivors in Haiti receive much-needed medical and life supplies by simply enjoying an evening of fantastic food and entertainment. “Best InTENTions for Haiti”, a fundraising gala, will be hosted at Memorial Hall in Indian Head on Saturday, May 15th. All proceeds from the evening will be used to purchase medical supplies and life essentials that will travel directly with Dr. Amanda Johner, former Indian Head resident, to Haiti during her next working visit in late May.
The fundraiser is the second major support initiative for Haiti undertaken by sisters Amanda Johner and Nicole Williamson, a registered nurse residing in Outlook, SK. Last February, the sisters joined Life and Hope Haiti and traveled to Haiti to help provide much needed medical aid to survivors. Along with their medical talents, the sisters brought approximately 2000 lbs of medical supplies donated by friends, family, and residents of Indian Head.
“It was our great fortune to have the opportunity to see the smile that the supplies we were able to carry over brought to so many faces. To see a mother smile as she is able to provide her child with formula and antibiotics is priceless. To hear the laughter of a child after receiving a teddy bear and a sucker cannot be put into words. Thank you is all I can say to all those helping this cause.” says Nicole.
Immediately following their return from Haiti in February, Dr. Johner joined LifeLineHaiti.com and signed up for a return visit for this May. LifeLineHaiti.com is a non-profit organization founded by R.J. (Bob) Davisson, a local Saskatchewanite who is a retired police officer and entrepreneur. The sisters met R.J. during their first day in Haiti.
After experiencing the chaos and devastation first hand, Amanda knew that she needed to once again bring as many supplies as possible on her return visit. She knows that so many people have already donated generously to the cause but sees this gala as opportunity for the community to come together and once again show their support.
“The great thing about this gala is that not only do you receive an evening of amazing food and entertainment, you also know that every dollar you spend will be turned into life saving items like bandages, and antibiotics as well as much needed items like tents. And, you can take pride in knowing that your support is making a difference in so many lives as I hand out these items when I return to Haiti in May.” Says Dr. Johner.
Gala supporters will be happy to know that one hundred percent of the proceeds from the evening will go directly to purchasing supplies thanks to the generosity of local businesses. The Uncoola’s, a Regina band whose unique performances have earned them appearances at Casino Regina, Craven Country Jamboree and several other big name venues, have waived their performance fee in recognition of the cause. Johner’s Catering, from Balgonie, is donating their time and working with suppliers to have as much of the food as possible donated. Several other organizations and businesses have made donations that will be featured in the silent auction and raffle to raise additional funds.
These canvas prints are actual photos that were taken on Amanda & Nikki's first trip to Haiti. They will be available for purchase at the silent auction in Indian Head at the"Best InTENTions for Haiti" fundraiser this weekend! If you're interested in bidding on this auction, please let me know and I can make sure that your sealed bid is brought to the fundraiser. Best of luck for a great fundraiser and good luck Dr. Johner on your next working visit!
