Happy Mothers Day!

Every year for Mothers' Day, all I want is to be able to go and do a shoot. Not a scheduled shoot, just something different. Last year we went for a big country drive in the Gull Lake area. The drive was great - with a one and three year old who didn't want to be along - and we didn't find all that much until we were almost back into town when I discovered the infamous "car in the slough". Most of you know the one. It's the car in the canvas print a couple of posts back and the one that won the Vistek Capture Canada photo contest last year.

Anyways, this year I thought I'd add a new tradition to Mother's Day. My daughter shares May as a birthday month, so I think I'll use this holiday to take her annual birthday pictures.  A couple weeks back, I got a few new and amazing tutus from Cara Drury (check her out on facebook, she has lots of her tutu and headpiece pics on there!) and I couldn't wait to try them out in a shoot with my little girl.  I thought that today would be the perfect day with the sun shining so nice and bright this morning. We procrastinated enough and ended up not leaving the house until after lunch... when the clouds covered in and it started to spit on our drive out. We took a few pics (and by few, I mean 6 shots) before Morgan told me she was cold. I guess it's not all the nice to bring your almost 2 year old out into the 11 degree elements. At least I didn't make her take off her jacket!

Here's what we captured today. Maybe next week we'll make it out and she can dance along the sandbars at the river in her tutus like we had planned...

My May Promo is actually going to be a Tutu Day. I'm just waiting to schedule the day until this weather smartens up. I'll be getting the package prices up soon, but feel free to contact me ahead of time if you are interested. I have a couple of tutus on hand that I will include with the package. If you are wanting specific colors, please let me know and we can see we can get some for you.  It takes some time to get the supplies here if you are wanting a custom made tutu for the session.

  1. Carla you take amazing pictures! Im sure I will be saying that after every post, but it is so true. You sure have a talent. Morgan looks so adorable in that tutu. So much fun to have a little girl to play around with in tutu's.
